Graph Depth of Field

 Graph Depth of Field

3d charts, very nice & clean.  'the brief for The Design Council Annual Review stipulated a more engaging way to look at the facts and figures representing three key areas of policy: Competitiveness, Sustainability and Innovation.'

'Rather than use two dimensional data, we worked with photographer Dan Tobin Smith to build an environment in which to house three-dimensional expressions of these key figures. The graphs levitate in the space, freed from being default statistical representations, becoming something more visually emotive.' Balloon Animation

Saw this quirky little durex animation, thought it would lighten everyones mood. quite creative.

CR state 'Not much to say about this Durex ad made by NY animation studio Superfad for Atlanta agency Fitzgerald + Co, except that it made us laugh.
Apparently, everything is done in CGI. Shame, we had visions of a particularly filthy-minded party balloon folder twisting away in a studio somewhere…'

Animated Audi

I saw this on the tv recently, usually forget to search for the ad to blog it or i forget who the ad was for to actually search it.

But i found it at creative reviews blog. CR's first twee spot of ‘09: the new Audi Q5 ad featuring Woody Guthrie’s Car Song

Twee, acoustic, folksy music accompanies practically every second ad on TV at the moment. We first noticed the trend back in mid 2007 – a list of sappy offenders compiled here – but when, we ask, will it end? Joining CR's discussion: Dan Stevens, a director at music PR and management company, Darling Department; Parv Thind, sound designer at Wave; and Peter Raeburn, founder and creative director of music production company, Soundtree.

It is great the hand drawn animated style, check out Blank Canvas & Communication Animation

Great making the card posses the ability to reflect.

Looked good. there is a new one by nokia i just saw today. will search for that, think it was E17 model... or something.

3d Calligram

 3d Calligram

brilliant. livre is book in french i think. very delicate/intricate stories being visualisaed in 3d calligram thorugh their own narrative in textual form.

very nice text visualisation. ok not necessarily functionable that you can read it, but its form is very good. also check out Mississippi Type Visual.

excellant.

Visualisation Magazine

4cc149da916b0d067f889b467ba87889 Visualisation Magazine

Visualization magazine volume 1 has a collection of 20 top examples that explore creative innovative modes of visual communication of information that i have featured at this site, plus other bits that will hopefully expand over time and member (you) would gratefully in time like to contribute, if you wanted.

Things like maps, diagrams, info graphics, mindmaps, brainstorms, sketchbooks,
notebooks, flowcharts, scientific visualization, process visualization etc. As I
say they are very good resources of inspiration for various design jobs as they
solve communication problems using easy to understand graphics. Seems a mouthful
but basically great graphics that look great (form) and communicate detailed
info quickly and easily (function).

Visual Body

 Visual Body

Here are some creative visualisation like the video above of excellant
mapping into
displaying the inner workings of the human body. Really creative, full coloured
animated depiction of the human arteries really imaginative insight.

Really neat promotional video from the hybridmedicalanimation.com.

found here: http://coolinfographics.blogspot.com/2008/08/awesome-medical-visualizations.html

The visible body is no less imaginative, informative and detailed with its
full coloured deptictions. They quite rightly state that they can be used
for:

Instructors:

Use it in the classroom to show structures and their relationships.

Students:

Use it as you study to help you visualize and memorize.

Health Professionals:

Use it in your office or exam room to teach patients about their conditions.

Everyone:

Use it to explore and learn about your amazing human body

found here: as-map.com - post: How it's done it?

Although these visualisations may not be as highly creative depicting the
human body with its silky intricacies, smooth colours without the more intimate
depth perception created by with the 3d perspective they are still as
informative.

3D CV Map

ISO MAP 2 3D CV Map

Cartographer of Complexity. This map is brilliant on so many levels. It has a timeline at the heart mapping its creator's, Arnaud Velten, career from 1992 - 2008.

In a similar vein to the previously posted Life Map by Ritwik Dey it colour codes his subject/interests & locations in to 5 colours Green, Light Green, Yellow, Orange & Red (top left). These are then used as a key to his timeline in the middle near the red circle for 'You are here' I think vous etes ici translates to, my french is limited (but you could presume to start there as it is the first, bold red graphic epicentre almost).

Under the subjects headings for Graphics/Illustration Green are Typography, Creation, & Mise en Page (I think 'read the page' similar to mise en scene). This then progresses to Communication light green, Multimedia yellow, Marketing orange & (I guess, weak french) Intelligence strategies red which is how Arnaud has arrived at Cartographer of Complexity demystifying problems (again, weak french).

In the top right it is very compact and gives extreme depth to this spatial information visualisation (infographic) not through the perception of 3d depth in the 2d form (which is executed brilliantly btw), but actual quantity of data are his competencies of software understanding, frontpage, dreamweaver, corel (similair to freehand), photoshop, flash, indesign, after effects, premiere...

The centre steming from his timeline link off to his jobs, blog interests... so much detail, wish I could read french better as i would probably understand a lot more.

I wonder if his sponsor at the bottom/center, International Bank of Art Money exists.

Absolutely Fantastic Map.

Real Pleasure, thankyou Arnaud.

Visually Constructing Lewis

This is a clever, creative piece of visual thinking. Abbey take the style of a lewis hamilton & his Mclaren (i think) car as a model kit that you can put together.

Particularly how it breaks the number eight apart at the end and then reconstructs it like model pieces. Really makes you re-think about the shape, form of letters/symbols.

great advert, much in the vein of the Honda ads with the Cog ad of everything working together & the problem playground (blogged previously at this site) of visual thinking, problem solving and piecing things together.

Excellant
